Esther de Groot was a popular character in Scary Go Round. She went from put-upon goth to head girl at Tackleford Grammar before packing up for university. Esther's best friend was Charlotte Grote's big sister, Sarah. Charlotte idolised Esther and wished a. that she was that tall and b. that she had all those clothes with the metal bits and lace.

Esther's boyfriend was variously referred to as "The Boy", Eustace Boyce and "Useless". he was a reliable, strawberry blond fellow. They had a tight bond, forged in a caravan in Wales.

Scary Go Round was my comic that ran from 2002 to 2009. You can read the entire, enormous archive if you like! But if you just want to read some select Esther stories, you can try her teenage adventures in Wales or revisit her final schooldays.
